The Ask
Tenacity in Transformation – Leading in Complexity
CPC was engaged to work with the client to customize our Tenacity in Transformation workshop to enable leaders in their project teams to develop skills for sensemaking and adaptive leadership in complex environments. The goal for this learning program was for CPC to build capacity with the client’s organization to ensure they could continue with implementing their strategy.
Approach
Discovery and SME interviews to customize exercises to make them applicable for the client.
Methodology
Human Systems Dynamics and Complexity Theory, LEAN, PROSCI, ADDIE
Disrupt
CPC worked with the client and impacted leaders to determine the purpose of the workshop and the audience for the workshop. We determined the type of capacity that needed to be developed to customize the course.
Diagnose
CPC conducted a detailed review of the current state processes for leave management, while focusing energies on developing relationships with all stakeholders. CPC used the SCARF model to navigate working sessions and design decisions to ensure all participants felt safe to provide information that would contribute to the project’s success. From the resulting “as-is analysis”, opportunities for process improvements were identified. With these themes, CGC conducted several workshops with all stakeholders to design the future state.

Deepen
After the delivery of the course, we had a course evaluation completed by each participant. Of the 35 participants, 30 found they were using the concepts they learned in their day-to-day program work. 17 used the tools as a primary toolkit for their project planning. The Client found engagement had increased in their teams and that staff were reporting improved understanding of their landscape. The course had been expanded to reach the entire province over the next year.
Lessons Learned
This engagement reinforced CPC’s approach to:
- Understand the neuroscience behind stress, attention, and decision-making
- Participate in change initiatives to engage people fully and reduce resistance
- Teach and incorporate somatic practices to strengthen neural pathways, support behavioral change, and cultivate a sustainable culture
